As also indicated in the WriteSpace Calendar, our next class meeting after Spring Break will be on Wednesday the 24th. See the Calendar for all the work you will need to do for that class, for Monday the 22d and also for this Friday, and note especially the following:
  • the online quiz at 9:30 a.m. on Friday the 12th which will be on only Viewpoints 1 and 2 from chapter 3 of The Internet: Opposing Viewpoints (which are assigned to be read in the entry for Monday the 8th) (Note: If you cannot take the quiz at this time, please e-mail me with another day and/or time that you'd like to start the quiz and I'll set it up for you.)
  • the deadline of the end of Friday the 12th for posting to the forum "3-a. discussion about viewpoints 1 and 2 in chapter 3, 'How Should the Internet Be Regulated?'" under "Discussion Forums" under the Communicate tab (remember that if you don't make your post to this forum by the end of Friday the 12th you will lose one third of a letter grade in the class participation portion of your final grade)
I've also put up the assignments for Friday the 26th. There won't be a class meeting that day, but note the following in its Calendar entry:
  • the online quiz at 9:30 a.m. which will be on only the sample argumentative synthesis essays (which are assigned to be read in the entry for Monday the 22d)
  • the deadline of the end of that day to e-mail me what you propose to be your assertion (see the "Steps in Writing an Argumentative Essay" lecture available under the "content lectures" section of the page you see when you click on the "lectures" link above) for your argumentative synthesis essay (roll over the "essay assignments" link above and then on the pop-up menu click on "multi-draft essay #2").

When I finish grading your in-class essay, if you did it on the computer and submitted it through WriteSpace, you'll get it back through WriteSpace also. To know when I've finished with your essay, go to the same place in WriteSpace that you submitted it, i.e., click on the "Submit your in-class essay here." link under the Lessons tab. If at the bottom of the page you see a table like this

the table at the bottom of the Submit Your In-Class Essay Here page if I have not graded your essay yet

this indicates that I haven't graded your essay yet. But if there's anything in the two columns titled "Submission Score" and "Comments" like in the following example

the table at the bottom of the Submit Your In-Class Essay Here page if I have graded your essay

this means that I have graded your essay. Now, the figure under "Submission Score" is not your grade on this essay; to view your real grade and my comments on your essay, you'll have to click the link to your essay file in the "Comments" column. You can then either open or save the file, and when you open it you'll see my comments in the file along with your grading checklist for this essay as given in the "evaluation" section of the in-class essay assignment page (if you have trouble viewing my comments and grade when you open the file in Microsoft Word, you can consult this page).

It may take me quite a while to get all of your essays graded, so just keep checking your WriteSpace "Submit your in-class essay here." folder periodically, and I'll also post an announcement here when I do have them all done.
