Hi, thanks for visiting the Web site for my book Understanding American
Football. (The subtitle wasn't my idea; I don't know if it's the
"simplest, clearest and most detailed guide for spectators," but
I've tried to make it as close to that as I could.) This is the book that
Alex Trebek talked to me about when I was on Jeopardy!; to view our
conversation, click here.
I've written the book primarily for people from outside North
America and/or those whose native language is not English, but I
believe anybody who wants to learn more about the game of football can
benefit from it. My book is not just about the rules of the game itself; I
also discuss the organization of football, including the business of
professional football and the impact of the sport on American culture. The
302-page book includes a glossary of nearly 500 terms related to American
football and sports.
